22-17 PCL Setup

Emulation

Auto/PCL/PS [Auto Select]

In PCL or PS mode, the GA-1040 is restricted to PCL or PostScript jobs, respectively. Jobs sent to the GA-1040 that do not match the mode (or personality) selected on the GA-1040 are not printed. In Auto mode, the GA-1040 switches to the appropriate page description language for each job. See PCL Options on page 2-17 and PostScript Options on page 2-19 for more information. PCL Setup

PCL (Printer Control Language) printer drivers are provided with the GA-1040 on the User Software CD. PCL Setup allows you to set defaults to control printer output. These defaults can be overridden by the user from within an application, but they determine how a job will be printed in the absence of other information.

NOTE: PCL printing is supported for Windows computers only. Mac OS computers must use the PostScript driver.

The options appear in sequence, as described below. Default values, where applicable, appear in square brackets.
