bridge | A bridge is any hardware device that connects two physically distinct |
| network segments, usually at a lower network layer than would a router, |
| however the two terms are often interchanged. A device that connects |

DHCP
A strong authentication method used with PPP for user login. A type of authentication in which the authentication agent (typically a network server) sends the client program a key to be used to encrypt the user name and password. This enables the user name and password to be transmitted in an encrypted form to protect them against eavesdroppers. When using CHAP, the user name/password is sent encrypted over the connection, preventing sniffing. See also PAP.
