Loading paper and specialty media
The selection and handling of paper and specialty media can affect how reliab ly documents print. For more informatio n,
see “Avoiding jams” on page 152 and “Storing paper” on pa ge 67.

Setting the paper si ze and type

1From the printer control panel, navigate to:
> Settings > > Paper Menu > > Paper Size/Type >
2Press the up or down arrow button to select the tray or feeder, a nd then press .
3Press the up or down arrow button to select the paper size, and then press .
4Press the up or down arrow button to select the paper type, an d then press to change the settings.

Configuring Univers al paper settings

The Universal paper size is a userdefined setting that lets you print on paper sizes that are not preset in the printer
menus.
Notes:
The smallest supported Universal size is 70 x 127 mm (2.76 x 5 inches) for oneside d printing and
105 x 148 mm (4.13 x 5.83 inches) for twosided (duplex) printing.
The largest supported Universal size is 216 x 356 mm (8.5 x 1 4 inches) for onesided and twosided printing.

Loading the 550sheet tray

CAUTION—POTENTIAL INJURY: To reduce the risk of equipment instability, load each tray separately. Keep all
other trays closed until needed.
1Pull out the tray.
Notes:
When loading folio, legal, or oficiosize paper, lift the tray slightly and pull it out c ompletely.
Avoid removing trays while a job prints or while Busy appears on the display. Doing so m ay cause a jam.
