This section explains how to open and close the system unit’s front panel.

Opening the System Unit Front Panel

Perform the following steps to open the system unit.

1.Power off the system, and unplug the system unit power cord from the electrical outlet. Note that when you press the system power switch, the system automatically performs a shutdown -q.

2.Attach the static-grounding wrist strap by following the instructions on the package. Attach the sticky end of the wrist strap to bare metal on the back panel of the system unit.

3.Unlatch the front panel (also known as the front bezel) by pressing in on the two latch buttons located on the right side of the front panel. See Figure 5-1. If the front panel does not open, you may have to locate the front panel key and unlock it.
