The network connectivity between the Command View server and the Utility Meter is broken.

The Utility Meter is down or is unreachable (broken network connection).

The configuration of the disk arrays is absent or incorrect.

For URS XP installations, the HP StorageWorks XP Command View Advanced Edition Command Line Interface (CLI) software on the Utility Meter:

Is not installed on the Utility Meter.

Is not the correct version (6.0 or later).

Has not been configured to avoid CLI conflicts. For details of avoiding CLI conflicts, see XP Only

– Verifying the Correct Version of XP CV AE CLI is Installed.

The version of the CLI installed on the meter must be less than or equal to the version of XP Command View Advanced Edition installed on the Command View server for the array being monitored.

For URS EVA installations, the HP StorageWorks Command View EVA Advanced Edition software installed on the Command View server is NOT version 6.x or later.

One or more of the URS processes on the Utility Meter stopped working.

The network connectivity to HP is broken.

In addition to performing the appropriate procedures in Chapter 4: “Verifying Utility Meter Operation”, to troubleshoot a storage device, perform the following procedure:

1.Verify the Vdisks/LUNs discovered on the Command View EVA or the Command View XP AE Device Manager.

2.Verify the Vdisks/LUNs:

EVA: Discovered in HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM) with a visual inspection in HP SIM.

XP: In the Remote Web Console (RWC) and/or the Command View Advanced Edition server, check information on LUNs and LDEVs with a visual inspection of the LUNs and LDEVs for the XP array.

3.In HP SIM, generate a report and perform a visual inspection of the LUNs.

5.3.2 Troubleshooting a WBEM Device

This section contains general tips on how to troubleshoot a Utility Meter with configured WBEM devices. If you are having trouble with this type of configuration, here is a list of possible reasons:

The CIM server is down or is unreachable.

The network connectivity between the CIM server and the Utility Meter is broken.

The Utility Meter is down or is unreachable (broken network connection).

The configuration of the WBEM Partition/Server is absent or incorrect.

One or more of the PPU processes on the Utility Meter stopped working.

The network connectivity to HP is broken.

In addition to performing the appropriate procedures in Chapter 4: “Verifying Utility Meter Operation”, to troubleshoot a WBEM device, perform the following procedure:

1.Login to the server where the CIM/WBEM is running.

2.Verify the CIM Server is running by typing the following command: cimserver -v

This command will list the version number of CIM Server that is running.

3.Verify the WBEM providers are running by typing the following command: cimprovider -ls

This will list all of the registered CIM provider modules and their status.
