Configuring the Remote Interface
Setting the RS232/422 Parameters
This section explains how to set the baud rate, word size, parity, number of stop bits, pacing and echo for the serial interface.
To set the serial interface parameters:
1. Press System , Remote Interface, Configure Interface ,
Inputs
Serial . The current settings for Baud rate , Word size , Stop bits and Parity are shown under the softkeys.
2.To change the baud rate press Baud rate . The power meter
displays the baud rate in a pop up window. Change the setting by
using the and
keys to run through the selection of baud rates available. To confirm your choice press Enter .
3.To change the word size press Word size . The power meter displays the word size in a pop up window. Change the setting by using any of the arrow hardkeys to toggle between a word size of 7 or 8. To confirm your choice press Enter .
4.To change the number of stop bits press Stop bits . The power meter displays the number of stop bits in a pop up window. Change the setting by using any of the arrow hardkeys to toggle between a setting of 1 or 2. To confirm your choice press Enter .
5.To change the parity type press Parity . The power meter displays the parity type in a pop up window. Change the setting by using any of the arrow hardkeys to select from EVEN, ODD, ZERO, ONE or NONE. To confirm your choice press Enter .
6. Press More to access page 2 of 2. This page allows you to set echo off and on and gives access to the pacing menu.
7.Press Echo to toggle between off and on. When echo is on, all received characters will be transmitted (echoed) back to the sender.
8.Press Pacing to access the pacing menu which allows you to enable/disable various software and hardware pacing options. Pacing will prevent receiver overrun errors and is generally only required when large amounts of data are being transferred (for example, cal tables).
9.Press Tx Pacing to toggle between enabling and disabling the Xon/Xoff transmitter software handshake. When enabled “Xon” is highlighted, otherwise “None” is highlighted.
10.Press Rx Pacing to toggle between enabling and disabling the Xon/Xoff receiver software handshake. When enabled “Xon” is highlighted, otherwise “None” is highlighted.
