4 Introduction
(retransferred)to the UPS. How and when the load is returned to the UPS depends on several factors: how long
theoverload lasted, how many overload conditionsoccurred before transfer, whether there isan imminent failure
ofany part of the UPS, etc. Refer to 3.4 - Automatic Operations.
Inthe unlikely event of a fault within the UPS, the SCC control logic, which continuouslymonitors all critical
circuitswithin the UPS system, transfersthe load to bypass without interruption ands imultaneouslysets off local
andremote alarms. If a fault is detectedin an individual UPS module, that moduleis automatically disconnected
fromthe critical bus and shutdown. A Module Off Line status message willappear at the SCC display. The
modulecan be manually returned to service when the fault has been corrected.
Ifthe multi-module UPS system is operating inthe redundant mode (at least one extra moduleis available for the
connectedcritical load), the load will remain on the UPS system if one individualmodule is disconnected from
thecritical bus (off line). If the UPS system is operatingin the non-redundant mode, the load will be automati-
callytransferred to bypass if a m odulegoes off line.
TheSeries 600T UPS display system provides precise monitoring of the UPS, fast alarm response, and quick
troubleshooting. For easy manual operations, menu-drivensoftware provides access to several step-by-step help
screens. All operator functions are performed usingmenu-prompted displays and a minimum number of operator
controls. The System Control Cabinet includes external communicationcapability with both automatic dial-out
anddial-in features for early warning and diagnosis of abnormal conditions.
Thesystem software allows the operator, or LiebertGlobal Services, to enter application specificinformation.
Overload, overvoltage, battery discharge, and shutdown limitscan be set by the operator. In effect, the software
istailored for each site.
TheUPS system protects critical equipment from source power disturbancesand outages, load faults, and UPS
malfunctions. This triple protection virtually eliminatescomputer and computing equipment downtime as a
resultof utility source power problems.
