This equipment contains seve ral circuits that are energized with high volt age. Only test equipmentdesig-
natedfor troubleshooting should be used. This is particularlytrue for oscilloscopes. Always check with an AC
andDC voltmeter to ensure safety before making contact or using tools. Even when the power is turned Off,dan-
gerouslyhigh potentials may exist at the capacitor banks. Observe allbattery precautions when near the battery
forany reason.
ONLYqualified service personnel should perform maintenance on the UPS system. When performing
maintenancewith any part of the equipment under power, servicepersonnel and test equipment should be stand-
ingon rubber mats. The service personnel should wear insulating shoes for isolationfrom direct contact with the
floor(earth ground).
Unlessall power is removed from the equipment, one person should never work alone. A second personshould
bestanding by to assist and summon help in case an accident should occur. This is particularly true when work is
performedon the battery.
