3.1.14 Communication Interfaces
YourLiebert Series 600T UPS includes the followingcommunication ports:
Worldwidereporting to a remote terminal through a modem
Reportingto a local terminal (no modem required)
Reportingto a local monitor only
Sitereporting to Liebert SiteScan Central Monitoring System
Reportingvia SNMP interface to a building management or network management system
Selectedalarm messages to a Liebert Remote Monitor Panel and to contact closuresfor customer use
Allexternal communication devices, including the modem, areoptional equipment. Connections to communica-
tionports are made by wiring cables to terminal boards at the SCC. Connectionpoints are shown on the Control
WiringInterconnect Diagram. Contact Liebert Global Servicesfor assistance when attaching an external device
toyour UPS system.
Anyterminal that accepts the standard 7-bit ASCII codes and conforms to the data link requirementscan be used
tointerface with the Series 600T UPS. If a printeris used, the terminal must support it. The UPS does not send or
receiveany printer control commands.

Thisport transmits UPS system status and historyinformation to a remote terminal inRS-232 format through a
PC-compatiblemodem.
Auto-Dial
TheSeries 600T UPS communication program willautomatically dial a pre-programmed (customerselected)
phonenumber when specified alarm conditions occur. The auto-dialphone number,an alternate number, and the
modembaud rate are programmed by using the SCC System Configuration screen. The alarm messagesthat ini-
tiatean auto-dial call are identified in Tabl e 1.
Whenthe auto-dial function is initiated, automatic dialattempts to the first phone number are made at periodic
intervalsfor 30 minutes. If unanswered, the system rollsover to the second number and repeats calling until con-
nectionis made or returns to first phone number after 30 minutes.
Oncea connection is made to a terminal, the system transmits theinformation on the Present Status Report
screen,then hangs up. The Present Status Report includes theUPS system identification number, date, time,
alarm messages and metere d parameter indications .
Requesting Information
Ifyour Series 600T is equipped with a modem andtelephone line, you can call the UPS and receive systemstatus
andhistorical information on dischargee vents.You can place the call fromeither a remote terminal or a personal
computerwith a communications program.
Followthe instructions for your terminal or your communications program to call the UPS. When you make con-
nection,the UPS will send you the greeting: “Hello, you are connected to a Series 600.”At this point, the UPS
willrespond to your specific requests for information, according to Tabl e 3.
Forexample, to see a copy of information on the Present Status Reportscreen from the SCC (see Present Status
inthis manual), press the A key (either upper or lower case can be used for all except the date and time com-
