64 Operation
Figure 43 Range of Valuesfor Calculated Battery Times
Ifthe Battery Time screen is displayedwhile the battery is not discharging, it willdisplay the present Battery
Chargepercentage and the results of the previous dischargeevent.
TheSeries 600T records information about each dischargeevent. This data can be reviewed on the Battery Cycle
Monitorscreen, as described in 3.1.4 - Status Re ports Screens.
CAUTION
When battery shutdown occurs, no power will be supplied to the critical load
unlesspower is available through the bypassline from the utility source (or from
anengine generator set). If you anticipate a battery shutdown (and an engine
generatorset is not available), either transfer the loadto bypass(if available) or
perform aco ntrolledshutdown of the critical load.
NOTE
1. Duringinitial UPS start-up, the Battery Chargewill display 100%, even though
actualstate of charge may be slightlyless. It will normally takethree to four days
ofoperation to completely charge the battery. After the battery is fully charged
thefirst time, Battery Charge will be an accurateindication of battery status.
2. IfCalculated Time Remaining is less than Rated TimeRemaining, a battery
problemmay be indicated. Battery maintenancepersonnel should thoroughly
examinethe battery plant for factors that may reducebattery performance, such
as:
Age of battery
Excessive battery discharge/rechargecycles
Bad or weak cells
Low acid levels in floodedcells
Loose electrical connections
Ambient temperature extremes
Dirty battery jar covers.
3. Ifthe battery plant has been thoroughly examinedf orproper maintenance and
condition, and the Calculated value is stillless than 80% of Rated value, contact
LiebertGlobal Services.
