3.2.10 Maintenance Bypass
MaintenanceBypass switchgear (cabinet, panelboard, switchboardor custom switchgear) allows you to totally
isolate the UPS system fr om all power sources, whil e you maintain power to the c ritical load.
Yourinstallation may have a two-breaker,three-breaker, or four-breaker MaintenanceBypass, or none at all.
Themain differences are the locations of the RectifierInput Breaker and the Bypass Input Breaker (BIB).
Anotheroption that may be present at your site is an alternatepower source (generator) and an automatic transfer
switch(ATS).
Notethat to totally isolate the UPS system from all power sources, the Main Input switchgear and battery circuit
breakersmust also be opened.

Instructions for operating the Maintenance Bypass circuit breakers are on the
Maintenance Bypass cabinet. Make sure you understand the proper sequence
beforeoper atinga ny circuit breaker.Operating a Maintenance Bypa ss circuit
