Confidential Faxes

Fax machines are often placed in public places where everyone can look through the received faxes. If you are communicating with another Oki fax-capable unit, you can use the confidential fax feature. The receiving machine will store the message in a personal (confidential) mailbox (in the machine’s memory) and will not print it until a password is entered. This is an exclusive Okidata feature; you cannot use it with another manufacturer’s fax machines.

!To send a confidential fax, you must know in advance the mailbox the message should be sent to. Ask the

person who will receive the fax to tell you their mailbox number.

For more information on working with Confidential Faxes, refer to the “Advanced Operations, Confidential Faxes” section of this handbook.

Closed Network Option

The closed network option lets you set your fax machine to only transmit faxes to or receive faxes from locations programmed into One Touch keys or Auto Dial numbers. You can also set it to receive faxes only from those programmed locations. This is one way of reducing the number of unsolicited faxes you receive, such as advertisements.

To use the closed network function, follow the instructions below.

1Press the Select Function key.
