Getting Started With Email

Just like on your computer, you can choose between email applications to manage your email. Your Treo™ Pro smartphone by Palm includes two options for reading and sending email. (Additional fees may apply for email services.)

Messaging: Check email from your corporate Exchange server, from your POP/IMAP accounts with your ISP (Internet service provider), and from Internet mail accounts such as AOL (see “Setting Up an IMAP or POP Email Account” on page 129 or “Setting Up an Exchange Server Account” on page 125).

Windows Live: Check your Windows Live Hotmail account (see “Setting Up Windows Live Mail” on page 173).

If you want to, you can set up more than one application to work with separate email accounts.

Tip

You can receive email messages in various formats, including HTML, RTF, and plain text. If your email provider offers a Web interface, you can also use Internet Explorer® Mobile to manage email from your Treo Pro smartphone. To learn about using Internet Explorer Mobile, see “Browsing the Web” on page 183.

Did you know?

If your email account requires a VPN connection for establishing a secure connection, your VPN server may require that you install specific VPN software (sold separately) on your Treo Pro smartphone before you can access your email. See “Connecting to a VPN” on page 366 for details.
