9.I/O ports

This option controls settings for the parallel port.

NOTE: Do not assign the same interrupt request level and I/O address to the serial port and PC card.

(a)Parallel

This option sets the interrupt request level and I/O port base address for the parallel port. When the parallel port mode is set to Std. Bi-direct, the options are as follows:

When the parallel port mode (see settings below) is set to ECP, the DMA channel can also be set to 1, 2 or 3. The default is 3.

When you select one of the above options, except for Not Used, a subwindow similar to the one below appears to let you set the DMA. The options for this setting are Channel 1and Channel 3 (Default).

= Channel 3 (Default)

For most printers, the port should be set to ECP in Peripheral. With some other parallel devices, the setting should be Std. Bi-Direct.
