Removing and Replacing the Serial Rear Transition Module

Introduction

The Serial Rear Transition Module provides the physical connector interface for the

 

Serial Card.

Removing the

 

 

 

 

Use the steps in this table to remove the Serial Rear Transition Module from the

Serial Rear

Vanguard 7300 enclosure:

Action

1At the rear of the Vanguard 7300 chassis locate the Serial Transition Module card, labelled Serial TM.

2Disconnect any cables attached to the module’s connectors.

3Loosen the captive screws.

4Open the ejector levers on the Serial TM.

5Pull the Serial TM from the enclosure.

6Place the Serial TM on a clean, grounded, and static-free surface.

Caution

Avoid touching areas of integrated circuitry; static discharge can damage these circuits.

Installing the Serial Use the steps in this table to install the Serial Rear Transition Module into the

Rear Transition Vanguard 7300 enclosure:

1Open the ejector levers on the Serial TM.

2Locate the correct slot; the Serial TM should be installed from the rear of the chassis in the same slot behind the Serial Card.

Align the Serial Card with the card rails on the Vanguard 7300 chassis.

3Carefully insert the Serial TM in the card rails and slide the card until you feel resistance.

4Simultaneously press the ejector levers inward until they lock.

5Tighten the captive screws.

6Reconnect any connector cables.
