Using Online Help on page 117

CentreWare IS enables you to check printer status and configure settings using a Web browser on a network computer. You can also use CentreWare IS to check the remaining volume of consumables and the paper loaded in the printer.

Notes:

This section applies to Phaser 6140/N or /DN printer configurations connected to a network. A USB-only connection will not give you access to CentreWare IS. If you do not have a network connection to the printer, you can use PrintingScout. For details, see Checking Printer Status with PrintingScout on page 117.

CentreWare IS requires a Web browser and a TCP/IP connection between the printer or device and the network (in Windows or Macintosh environments). TCP/IP and HTTP must be enabled in the printer, and a browser that supports Java Script is required. If Java Script is disabled, a warning message appears and CentreWare IS may not function properly.

Accessing CentreWare IS

To access CentreWare IS:

1.Verify that your printer is turned on.

2.Launch your computer’s Web browser and then enter your printer’s IP address in the address field using this format: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. Do not type “www” before the IP address.

Your printer’s CentreWare IS page opens in the browser.

Checking the Printer’s Status

1.In CentreWare IS, click the Status button (or, if you are in a different tab, click the Status tab). The printer’s general status includes:

The type, size, and amount (empty or full) of paper in each tray.

The printer’s ready-for-printing status.

The frequency with which the printer status information is refreshed.
