Cleaning the Imaging Unit and Laser Lens

If print quality becomes a problem and you are advised to clean the imaging unit and laser lens, follow these instructions.

Note: Do not use warm water or cleaning solvents to remove toner from your skin or clothing. This will set the toner and make it difficult to remove. If any toner gets on your skin or clothing, use a brush to remove the toner, blow it off, or wash it off with cold water and mild soap.

Caution: Do not expose the imaging unit to strong light, and minimize its exposure to light in general to five minutes or less if possible.

1.Switch off the printer at the power switch located on the left side of the printer toward the back.

2.Wait until the printer has cooled (about 40 minutes).

3.Remove Tray 1 and set it aside.

4.Open the printer by pressing the front cover button on the right side of the printer near the top.
