Bandwidth Management

You can efficiently manage traffic on your network by reserving

bandwidth and giving priority to certain types of traffic and/or to particular

computers.

46.2 Cable Pin Assignments

In a serial communications connection, generally a computer is DTE (Data Terminal Equipment) and a modem is DCE (Data Circuit-terminating Equipment). The ZyWALL is DCE when you connect a computer to the console port. The ZyWALL is DTE when you connect a modem to the dial backup port.1

The console cable and dial backup cable each have an RJ-45 connector and a DB-9 connector. The pin layout for the DB-9 connector end of the cables is as follows.

1.Pins 2,3 and 5 are used.
