ACAUTION
ξHold the handle of the sawhead firmly because the momentum generated by the motor may cause the sawhead to move slightly up or down at
ξTransport the machine only if it is locked securely in transport posi- tion. To lock the machine for transport, lower the sawhead and push in the transport locking pin.
ξDo not carry the machine by the handle; the handle is not designed to bear the weight of the machine. When carrying the machine, hold it on both sides of the base.
ξBe careful to avoid the risk of con- tusion. Fingers may be squeezed and in extreme cases crushed between the sawhead tilt lock lever and the track arm holder. Always position the tilt lock lever (by pulling it out and turning) so that there is sufficient space between the lock lever and the track arm holder.
Accessories and consumables
ADANGER
ξUse only parts approved by the manufacturer. This applies in par- ticular to saw blades and safety devices listed in chapter 15, "Tech- nical Specifications".
AWARNING
ξNever use grinding or
Insufficient care
AWARNING
ξKeep the machine clean and in good working condition at all times. In particular, keep all handles and adjustment knobs, etc., free of grease and oil.
Hot saw blade
AWARNING
ξCutting causes friction and gener- ates heat. Immediately after cut- ting, the saw blade may be very hot and pose a fire hazard.
ξAlways let the saw blade cool down, especially before touching it.
ξDo not clean a hot saw blade with combustible liquids.
Personal injury by damaged saw blades
ADANGER
ξDo not use blunt, damaged or warped saw blades.
ξNever attempt to cut any work pieces which contain
ropes,
strings,
cords,
cables,
wires, or work pieces to which any of the above are attached.
ξWhere applicable or when in doubt, always check the work piece for screws, nails or any other matter which may be embedded.
AWARNING
ξDo not use any cleaning agents that contain acids or caustic or cor- rosive substances which would tend to corrode the light metal com- ponents of the machine. The stabil- ity and safety of the machine could be compromised if such sub- stances were used for removing resin residue.
ξIf resin residue is to be removed, use a clean cloth.
Work piece kickback
AWARNING
ξMake sure the saw blade is suita- ble for the material of the work piece you are cutting.
ξCut thin or
ξMake sure thin or
ξEnsure proper feeding of work pieces:
Place work piece on turntable only when the sawhead assem- bly is fully raised.
Always hold the work piece against the fence when cutting.
ξAlways use sharp saw blades. Replace blunt saw blades immedi- ately. When a blunt, dull or other- wise damaged saw blade it used, the risk that a blunt tooth is caught by the work piece’s surface, rather than cutting through it, increases, and so does the risk of work piece kickback, which poses a great dan- ger of injury to the operator of the machine.
AWARNING
ξCut only work pieces that have dimensions which allow them to be safely and securely held (or clamped) during cutting.
ξLong work pieces require support.
ξDo not cut bundles or more than one work piece at a time. When bundles or more than one work piece are cut at the same time, the individual pieces cannot be prop- erly secured and controlled and once they then come in contact with the saw blade serious per- sonal injury may occur.
ξDo not jam work pieces.
ξRelease the ON/OFF switch imme- diately if the saw blade jams. Unplug the machine. Carefully remove the jam. Plug the machine in again. Continue sawing.
ξMake sure that when starting up the machine the saw blade does not have any contact with the work piece because otherwise danger- ous kickback may result.
ξNever try to slow the saw blade down or stop it by pushing the work piece against the saw blade from the side.
Cuts and cut-off limbs
ADANGER
ξBe very careful at all times.
ξAlways keep sufficient distance to the saw blade.
ξAlways keep sufficient distance to all moving or driven components.
AWARNING
ξMake sure that the saw blade has come to a complete standstill before changing any settings or moving the work piece.
ξAlways remove small wood chips and small pieces from the machine. Messy work areas can lead to acci- dents. To remove small wood chips and small pieces, wait until the saw blade has come to a complete standstill. Unplug the machine.
ξCarefully remove the small pieces. Plug the machine in again. Con- tinue with the work.
ξNever fix the ON/OFF switch in the pressed in (= ON) position. The switch is supposed to snap back into the OFF position after being released.
