Telnet access to a switch

CAUTION

Possible loss of service

To avoid reliability problems, establish telnet sessions on the DMS switch only with CSP05 software and above. If you encounter problems, contact your next level of support.

Procedure 12 Telnetting into a switch for MAP session access (pre-CSP05) Step Action

1Go to the CI level of the MAP display.

2Open table IPHOST by typing

>table IPHOST

and pressing the Enter key.

3List available EIUs by typing

>list all

and pressing the Enter key.

4Locate the EIU in the list and determine

a.the EIU IP address on the SuperNode side

b.that there are enough available connections on the CM and the EIU

5Close table IPHOST by typing

>quit

and pressing the Enter key.

6Open table RMCONFIG by typing

>table RMCONFIG

and pressing the Enter key.

7Determine that there are enough MAP and telnet sessions.

8Close table RMCONFIG by typing

>quit

and pressing the Enter key.

9Open an xterm window.

10Telnet into the EIU by typing

>telnet ip_addr

and pressing the Enter key. where

ip_addr

is IP address that you found at step 4

11You have completed this procedure.
