Installation (Hardware & Software)— PC 7-9
If External SCSI Devices Are Connected
Complete these steps if one or more external SCSI devices are connected
to your computer; otherwise continue at “Setting the Scanner SCSI Identi-
fication Number” later in this chapter.
CAUTION: Whenever connecting or disconnecting SCSI cables,
be sure power is turned off on all devices in the SCSI chain,
including the computer and the Scanner (turn off the computer
first).
IMPORTANT: The SCSI chain mentioned in this section must be connected to a
supported SCSI host adapter. (Refer to “Required Hardware” in Chapter 6.)
Multiple SCSI devices are connected to the computer in a chain. The
following steps will help you determine where you should place the
Scanner in that chain —either at the end of the chain, or in the middle of
the chain.
NOTE: The total cable length connecting all devices must not exceed 15 feet
(4.6 meters).
