SCS I Description
M axtor Atlas 10K III 5-167
The SYNCHRONIZE CACHE command ensures that all logical bl ocks, within the
specified range in the drive's cache memory, have their most recent data value
recorded on the physical medium. If more recent data for a logical block, within the
specified range, ex ist s in the cache memory than on the physical medium, then the
logical b l o ck s from the c ache me m o ry is wri tten to the physical m e d i um. Logic al
blocks are not necessarily removed from the cache as a result of the Synchronize Cache
operation. The data format and field descriptions are shown in Table 5-207 and Tab le
5- 208 resp ectivel y.

Number of
Blocks
Specifies the tot al number of contiguous logical blocks within the range.
When set to 0, t he drive removes a ll sectors from the given Lo gical Block Ad-
dress on.
When Number of Blocks and Logical Bl ock Ad dress are both 0, th e drive re-
moves al l unwritten cache sectors to the medium.
It is not considered an error when n o sectors within the specified range are
in the cache memory.
