SCS I Description
M axtor Atlas 10K III 5-43
The drive maintains three distinct sets of mode pages. They are the curr ent pag e , the
default page, and the saved page. The drive also reports a fourth set of changeable pages.
The page types are defined in Table 5-5 4.
Mode Page Type s
Current
The mode pa ge set appli es to all and def ines the dr ive’s mode. The
SCSI-2 specifi cati on states that a dri ve can mainta in Mode par ameters on a per -ini -
tiator basis if it so chooses. The Drives do not support this option.
The mode page set contains t he values supplied in th e last MODE SELECT
command received from an initiator. If no initiator has sent a MODE SELECT com-
mand since the drive was last reset or powered up, the current pages contain
• values if saved pages exi st ( from a previous MODE SELECT comman d SP
parameter).
• values if page s have never been saved.
The drives generat e a Un it Attention condition for all i nit iators (e xcept for the one
that was the source of the M O DE SELECT command) whenev er one init iator modi-
fies th e M ode par a meter s.
Default The mode pa ge set contai ns the fact ory de fault val ues that are listed in e ach
page’s description.
Saved The mode page set contains values preserved in the drive’s non-volatile mem-
ory by a previous SP-modified MODE SELECT com mand.
Changeable
The mode page set provides a means for an initiator to determine which
pages it i s allowed to change and the specific bit s w it h in those pages that it is al-
lowed to change. This page set is read-only and is fetched with a MODE SENSE com-
mand.
