The READ DEFECT DATA (12) command directs the drive to report defect
informat ion about the dr ive’s medium. Refer to the F ORMAT UNIT command for
informat ion a bout de f ect s. The data se nt t o the ho st in the c ommand’s da ta- in buf fer
transfer c onsists of a four-by te Defec t List head er (Ta ble 5-144 an d Ta ble 5-145),
followed by any Defect Descriptors (Table 5-142 and Table 5-143).
