READ DEFECT DATA (12) Command-Field Description
1 All in-line spared blocks do not have an associated LBA, and, therefore, will not be
seen in Logical Block Format.
Table 5-142 shows the Block Format returned when the Defect List Format is 000b.

Table 5-143 shows the Defective Bytes From Index Format when the Defect List
Format is 100b or the Physical Sector Format when the Defect List Format is 101b.
Defect Descriptor-Bytes From Index Format, or Physical Sector Format
PList
When the val ue is 0, the return ed d ata does not include the Prima ry Defect List .
When the value i s 1, the returne d dat a includ es t he Primary Defect L ist. The def ects
are returned in ascending order.
GList
When the value is 0, the returned data does not include the Grow n Defect List.
When the va lue is 1, the returned data includes th e Grow n Defect List. The de fects
are returned in order of occurrence.
When both PList and GList are set to 1, the Primary Defect List and the Grown Defect
List are returned. The Plist is returned followed by the Glist (the lists are not merged).
When both are set to 0, only the Def ect List Header (Ta ble 5-144 ) is rep orted to the
initiator.
Defect List
Format This field specifies the format in which the defect descriptors are to be returned. The
supported formats are:
000b Block Format (Table 5-142).
100b Bytes f rom the Index ( Table 5-143) . The data returned from this
mode does not include defe cts outside normal user spa ce.
101b Physical Sector For mat (Tabl e 5-143) . Default format. The de-
fects returned from this mode do not include defects outside
normal user space.
110b
Vendor-Uni que Format. This f ormat is valid only for the READ
DEFECT DATA commands. The data returned from this mode
does not in clude def ects outside normal user space . Not e that
the vendor-unique format is proprietary in nature and thus is not
document ed in t his Product Manu al.
