SIM Card Security
YourSIM card stores all your Contactsand
protectsyour personalinformation. Since this
information is stored on your SIM card, not i n your
phone,you can remove the informationby
removing your SIM card.
Note:Exce pt for making emergency calls, y our
phonewill not functionwithout the SIM
card.
Toprevent unauthorizeduse of your phone, your
SIMcard is protected by a PIN thatyou enter each
timethe phone is poweredon. You can changethe
PINor turn off the requirementthat it be entered.

Turning the PIN Requirement On and

Off

Whenthe SIM PIN requirement is off,your phone
canbeusedwithoutenteringaPIN.
Important: When t he SIM PIN requirement is off,
thepersonal data on your SIM card is
notprotected. Anyone can use your
phoneand ac cess your personal data.
Whenthe SIM PIN requirement is on,you are
promptedto enter your PINeach time you power
on your phone.
Note:If a SIM PIN is re quired, your phone will
notf unction until the SI M PIN is entered,
exceptfor making emergencycalls.
1Fromthe main menu, select Settings >
Security > SIM PIN.
2Scrollto On or Off.
3PressAunder Select.
4Enter the current SIM PIN .
Note:The default SIMPIN is 0000. Changeyour
PINto prevent fraudulentuse of the SIM
card(see “Changingthe PIN” on page
13).
5PressAunder Ok.
