Enhancing GPS Performance
•Stayin th eo pen. The GPS feature works best
wherethere is nothingbetween your phone and
alarge amount of open sky.If possible, go
outside, away from tall buildings a nd foliage.
While performance in a building is imp roved by
movingcloserto windows, glass with certainsun
shielding films may block satel lite signals.
•Hold your phone to enhance recep tion. Signals
from GPS satellites are transmitted to your GP S
antenna,whichis inside the back of yourphone,
oppositethe earpiece,above the labelwith your
service provider’s name on i t. Hold your phone
away from your body, giving the antenna clea r
access to satellite signals. Do not cove rt he
antennaarea with your fingersor anything else.
•Standstill.If possible, standstill until your phone
isfi nished determining yo ur location. Moving
yourphone at a walkingpace while your phone
iscalculating your approximatelocation may
substantiallydecreaseGPS performance.
•Ina car. Whenusing the GPS Enabled featurein
acar, positionyour phone so that the GPS
antennahas good accessto GPS signals
through the car’s windows. Typically, the GPS
antenna has best access to GPSsig nals in a car
when placed near a window.
Note:Although moving yourphone at a walking
pacedecreases GPS performance,
movingit at the speed ofa moving car
does not.
•Stayin networkcoverage. Depending on who
yourservice provider is, the network will provi de
your phone with information tha th elps
determine your locatio n more quickly and
accurately.
