Walking or driving very slowly may also
substantially reduce GPS performance.
Evenwhere location informationcan be
calculatedin such situations,it may take much
longer to do so, and your location es timate may
notbe as accurate. Therefore,in any 911 call,
alwaysreport the locationto the emergency
response center if you can and if youcannot,
remain on your phone for as l ong as the
emergencyresponse centerinstructs you.
Even where adequate signals from multiple
satellites are available, your GPS feature will
onlypro vide an approximate location, often
within 150 feet (45 meters ) but sometimes
much further from your actual locatio n. Advice

Whilethe GPS feature ofyour phone can be a
valuable navigational aid, it do es not replace the
needfor careful navigatingand good judgment.
Never rely solely on one device for n avigation.
Rememberthat the accuracy of the location
informationand the time neededto obtain it will
varydepending on circumstances,particularly the
ability to receive signals fromadequate numbers of
satellites.
On emergency calls, your phone u ses assistance
informationfromt hephone network to improve the
speedand accuracy of yourphone’s location
calculation:if such assistanceinformation
becomes unavailable, it mayreduce the speed an d
accuracyof the location calculation.
Thesatellites used by the GPS featureof your
phone are controlled by the U.S .g overnment and
aresubject to changesimplemented inaccordance
withthe Department of DefenseGPS user policy
and the Federal Radionavigat ion Plan. These
changesmay affect the performanceof the GPS
feature of your phone.
Making an Emergency Call
Dial 911 to be connected to an emergen cy
responsecenter. If youare on an active call, you
must end it before calling 911.
Whenyou make an emergency 911call, the GPS
feature of your phone beg ins to seek informa tion to
calculate your approxima te location. It will take
the GPS feature of your phone some time to
determine your approximate location. Even
