Viewing Your Approximate Locati on
GPSsatellite signalsand network assist data, it
may take 30 seconds or more to determin e the
approximate location. Th is time will increase w here
thereis reduced access to satellitesignals. When
yourap proximate locat ion is determined, itis mad e
availableto the appropriateemergency response
center.
Insome cases, your local 911 emergency
response center may not be equipped to
receive GPS location informati on. For this
reason, and because the GP S location informati on
reportedis only approximateor may not be
availablein your location(see “IMPORTANT:
Thingsto Keep in Mind”on page 81), always
reportyour locationto the 911 operatoryou
speak to when making a n emergency call, if able,
justas y ou would when using a ph one without GPS
capabilities.
Note:If you are concernedabout whether your
local911 emergencyresponse centeris
equipped to receive GPS locatio n
information, contact your l ocal authorities.
Ing eneral, if your phone has acc ess to signals
from more GPS satellite s, your location wi ll be
determinedfaster andmore accurately than if your
phonehas access to signalsfrom fewer GPS
satellites.
Ifyour phone does not have adequateaccess to
GPSsatellites signals,the location of the nearest
cell tower in contact with your phone is
automaticallymadeavailable to theemergency
responsecenter,if the center has the capabilityto
receive such information.

Viewing YourApproximateLocation
1Fromthe main menu, select GPS > Position.
2Scrollto view the entire screen.
This displays the following inform ation about the
last time your location was cal culated:
Thetime (as GreenwichMean Time) and date
that the location was last calcula ted.
The approximate locatio n, expressed as latit ude
andlongitude.
Theestimated accuracy of the calculated
location.Thisestimate of accuracyis only a very
roughestimate and mayvary substantially from
thea ctual accuracy of the approx imate location
informationreported.
