satellites orbiting the Earth to determin e the
approximategeographicallocation of yourphone,
expressedas latitudeand longitude. The
availabilityand accuracyof this location
information(and the amountof time that it takes to
calculateit)will vary dependingon the environment
inw hich you are using the GPS featur e. For
example, GPS location fixes ar e often difficult to
obtainindoors, in coveredlocations, betweenhigh
buildings,or in othersituations where you have not

When you make a 911 emergency call ,t he GPS
feature of your phone can help emerg ency
personnellocate youif your phone has adequate
accessto GPS satellitesignals and your
emergencyresponsecenter is equippedto process
suchinformation.
Youcan also use the GPS featureto view your
approximatelocation.Location information
appearson the phone’s display.
Ifyour phone is connected to a laptop computeror
similar device, software run ning on that device can
requestyour location.To protect your privacy, you
can control whether these requ ests are granted.

IMPORTANT:Things to Keep

in Mind

Ify ou are using the GPS feature of your phone
while driving, please give full att ention to driving
andto the road.
Whereadequatesignals from multiplesatellites
are not available (usually be cause your GPS
antenna cannot establish a vi ew of a wide area of
opensky), the GPS fe ature of your phone WILL
NOT WORK. Such situations include but are
notlimited to:
In undergroun d locations
Inside of building s, trains, or other covered
vehicles
Under any other metalor con crete roof or
structure
Between tall buildings or under dense
tree-cover
Near a powerful r adio or television tower
