6.To install a tape drive for the first time, you must first remove the filler mechanism:

a.Remove the filler panel from the device enclosure by loosening and removing 4 screws.

b.Use the same 4 screws to secure the device to the device enclosure, two screws on each side.

7.Set the replacement device SCSI ID address to 6 for a CD-ROM drive and to 5 for a tape drive.

8.To complete installation of a CD-ROM or tape drive, reverse Step 1 through Step 4.

8.1.3Removing/Replacing a Tape or CD-ROM Drive in an Enterprise 4000 System

To remove and replace an existing device, perform steps 1 through 5. To install a tape drive for the first time, proceed to step 6.

Note – For cooling purposes, the tape drive must be installed on the side nearest the keyswitch.

1.Unlock and remove the front panel bezel.

a.To unlock the bezel, apply inward pressure on the serrated edges at the lower left and right sides.

b.Tilt the bezel up 45 degrees to remove it. See Figure 8-6.
