4.2.3Component Failure on Enclosures

The controller implements the SCSI Enclosure Services (SES) protocol to communicate with its drive enclosures. If your enclosures provides SES communications, then enclosure status information of the , including power supply, fan, and presence of drive, will be obtained and evaluated. If a change in status is found, an SES message is displayed on your console (Figure 4–7).

If your enclosures provide redundant SES communication paths, the message will be reported twice. “EncID” is the Enclosure Identifier of the enclosure that reported the failure. The last four digits of the WWN is the last four digits of the enclosure’s serial number.
