Working with Software Images

	archive download-sw /allow-feature-upgrade	(Optional) Download the image files from the FTP server to
	[/directory] /overwrite /reload	the switch, and overwrite the current image.
	tftp:[[//location]/directory]/image-name1.tar	• The /allow-feature-upgradeoption allows installation of
	[image-name2.tarimage-name3.tar
		a software image with a different feature set.
	image-name4.tar]
		• (Optional) The /directory option specifies a directory for
		the images.
		• The /overwrite option overwrites the software image in
		flash memory with the downloaded image.
		• The /reload option reloads the system after downloading
		the image unless the configuration has been changed and
		not been saved.
		• For //username[:password], specify the username and
		password; these must be associated with an account on the
		FTP server. For more information, see the “Preparing to
		Download or Upload an Image File By Using FTP”
		section on page B-26.
		• For @location, specify the IP address of the FTP server.
		• For /directory/image-name1.tar
		[/directory/image-name2.tarimage-name3.tar
		image-name4.tar], specify the directory (optional) and the
		images to download. Directory and image names are case
		sensitive.

	archive download-sw [/directory] /leave-old-sw	(Optional) Download the image files from the FTP server to
	/reload	the switch, and keep the current image.

		• The /leave-old-swoption keeps the old software version
		after a download.
		• The /reload option reloads the system after downloading
		the image unless the configuration has been changed and
		not been saved.

		the FTP server. For more information, see the “Preparing
		to Download or Upload an Image File By Using FTP”

		• For @location, specify the IP address of the FTP server.
		• For directory/image-name.tar, specify the directory and
		the image to download. Directory and image names are

The download algorithm verifies that the image is appropriate for the switch model and that enough DRAM is present, or it aborts the process and reports an error. If you specify the /overwrite option, the download algorithm removes the existing image on the flash device, whether or not it is the same as the new one, downloads the new image, and then reloads the software.
