Chapter 33 Configuring SNMP

Configuring SNMP

Note Though visible in the command-line help strings, the cpu [threshold] keyword is not supported on the Catalyst 3750-E switch. Though visible in the command-line help strings, the cpu [threshold], fru-ctrl, insertion, and removal keywords are not supported on the Catalyst 3560-E switch. To enable the sending of SNMP inform notifications, use the snmp-server enable traps global configuration command combined with the snmp-server host host-addrinforms global configuration command.

You can use the snmp-server host global configuration command to a specific host to receive the notification types listed in Table 33-5.

Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to configure the switch to send traps or informs to a host:

(Optional) Specify the SNMP version (1, 2c, or 3). SNMPv1 does

 

 

not support informs.

 

 

(Optional) For Version 3, select authentication level auth, noauth, or

 

 

priv.

 

 

Note The priv keyword is available only when the cryptographic

 

 

universal software image is installed.

 

 

For community-string, when version 1 or version 2c is specified,

 

 

enter the password-like community string sent with the notification

 

 

operation. When version 3 is specified, enter the SNMPv3 username.

 

 

(Optional) For notification-type, use the keywords listed in

 

 

Table 33-5 on page 33-12. If no type is specified, all notifications are

 

 

sent.
