Configuring Routing Interfaces

This section describes how to configure the ANG’s two Ethernet interfaces:

HThe Trusted interface should be connected to a protected network segment (one behind a firewall or router that offers protection against unauthorized access). Typically, you should enable a routing protocol (RIP, OSPF, or both) on the Trusted interface so that the Aurorean Network Gateway can advertise to other devices that its virtual subnets are reachable to the corporate network.

HThe External interface can be connected to a network segment that resides outside a firewall and offers unfiltered access to the Internet. You must create a static route between the External interface and the router that serves as the gateway to the Internet. You cannot enable RIP or OSPF on this interface.

To add or remove a routing protocol from an interface, continue floppy disk configuration with the following steps:

1Click the Interfaces tab in the Routing Configuration window.

The Interfaces tab in the Routing Configuration window appears as shown in Figure 133.
