CONNECTION WITH OTHER EQUIPMENT
7Connections to commercial equipment.
(Before connecting this unit with other units please remove the power connection to this unit.)
Balanced analog connections
Using the balanced connections on this unit reduces the possibility of noise and interference from other devices, this method of interconnection is normally used in broadcast and recording installations.
For connection to the balanced input and output sockets of this unit, use XLR type connectors (not supplied) types XLR-
AConnect the balanced output of this unit to the balanced input of a mixer, amplifier or other device. Connect the balanced input of this unit to the balanced output of a mixer or other device. Ensure that the left and right channels are matched left to left and right to right.
Balanced AES/EBU digital connection
This connection adopts the AES/EBU professional digital interconnection standard as used by studios, broadcasters etc., use XLR type connectors (not supplied) type
BConnect the AES/EBU digital input socket on the unit to the AES/EBU digital output from a mixer or other device.
CAbout XLR connection cables.
These connections require a three pin XLR type cable (not supplied) for balanced interfacing to the unit. These cables adopt the European standard system for polarity, pin 2 hot + pin 3 cold – with pin 1 being the ground connection. Please be careful to ensure that the polarity of the connection is correct to the devices to which it is interfaced (American polarity uses pin 3 hot + and pin 2 cold – and interfacing with connectors wired this way would cause phase reversal or even loss of signal).
DAfter completing connections with other equipment please ensure the power connection to the unit is reconnected.
