CTrack number write operation
Standard
Automatic track writing is performed when the AUTO TRACK indicator lights in the display. This function assumes that silent passages longer than two seconds mark the area between two tracks and automatically starts a new track number when a sound is detected next. Depending on the nature of the source being recorded, the minimum level required to indicate the area between tracks can be adjusted (page 66).
Occasionally, passages with a low input level or noise during passages that are supposed to be silent causes the automatic track writing function to misjudge where new track numbers should be created. In cases like these, it may be beneficial to create track numbers manually. With manual track writing, you can assign track numbers anywhere you like within the recording. However, no more than 99 tracks can be written on a disc, and tracks cannot be shorter than four seconds in length. (Please remember that it is impossible to add track numbers once recording has been completed.)
For the automatic and manual track writing procedures, refer to page 80.
