Configuring the System Community

The value that you set must match the write community name of the SNMP host to enable the SNMP Set operation. If you enable SNMP but the community name is not set, SNMP goes into read-only mode.

To configure the system community:

1.On the Main Menu, select Configure SNMP.

The SNMP Configuration Menu displays.

P. Configure System Contact

N. Configure System Name

L. Configure System Location

C. Configure SNMP Community

T. Configure SNMP Trap Host IP Address

2.Select Configure SNMP Community.

The following instructions display on-screen:

SNMP Community is currently: Enter new SNMP Community >

3.Type the name of the SNMP community to which your system belongs or press ENTER to accept the default value that displays.

You must restart the PARTNER ACS 1600 DSL module for any changes to take effect. For more information on restarting the PARTNER ACS 1600 DSL module, see the “Getting started” chapter.
