4Align the memory riser with the slots on the memory-riser guide and the cooling fan assembly.

5Insert the memory riser firmly into the card guide until it is fully seated.

6Press down on the handle until it clicks into place.

NOTE: You can only lower the handle after the memory riser is seated in the card guide. If the handle does not move down, verify that the memory riser is properly seated in the card guide.

7Close the system. See "Closing the System" on page 90.

8Reconnect the system to its electrical outlet and turn the system on, including any attached peripherals.

Installing Memory Modules

WARNING: The memory modules are hot to the touch for some time after the system has been powered down. Allow time for the memory modules to cool before handling them. Handle the memory modules by the card edges and avoid touching the components on the memory module.

CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.

1Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.

2Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 89.

3Remove the memory risers. See "Removing a Memory Riser" on page 100.

4Pull the release tab and lift the memory module cover in the direction of the arrow.
