Installing memory

To install or replace memory:

1 Follow the instructions in “Preventing static electricity discharge” on page 41.

2 Follow the instructions in “Opening the server case” on page 42.

3 Pull the plastic tabs away from the sides of the memory module slot. If you are replacing a memory module, remove the old module.

4 Align the notch on the new module with the notch in the memory module slot and press the module firmly into the slot. The tabs on the sides of the memory slot should secure the memory module automatically.

5 Follow the instructions in “Closing the server case” on page 45.

6 Turn on the server. Make sure that the server turns on and that the operating system completely loads.

7 If your server is running Windows 2000 Server, right-click the My Computer icon, then click Properties. The amount of memory in your server is shown at the bottom of the System Properties dialog box.
