Figure 27 Physical storage detail from HP Integrity VM Version 4.0 or later VM Host

The following items describe physical storage details in Figure 27:

The box on the top is the storage device representation with the persistent device special file (agile addressing). The first line describes the storage device (HP 300 GST3300007LC). The next line below that (/dev/rdsk/disk3) displays the persistent device special file (DSF) path for the storage device. The path is persistent with respect to changes in the access path or host bus adapter, and can use multiple paths through a single device file name. This enables VM Manager to display a single DSF for each device instead of displaying a separate DSF for each path to a device with multiple paths (as done when devices are displayed using the legacy addressing scheme).

The second, larger box shows the adapter information, where the first line displays the hardware address (0/1/1/0), and the next line describes the adapter (SCSI Ultra320).

The gray box within this larger box is the storage device representation of the HP 300 GST3300007LC, but with the legacy DSF path (/dev/rdsk/c2t1d0).

The orange line on the right of the two boxes links the two representations of the storage device (one with the agile address and the other with the legacy address), indicating that they are two different representations of the same physical device.

The utilization meter (bar graph) is an I/O utilization meter that registers throughput. In this example, the meter is grayed out, indicating that the data is not available.

Clicking a Focus link displays information about the specific physical storage adapter or device and anything connected to it. If you use this link to focus on a specific adapter or device, you can return to the original view displaying all the storage interface cards and devices by using the Show All link visible on the focus page.
