Firmware Location Codes

These codes can be found in the System Management Services error log as described in “Step 1020-4” on page 2-11.

Location codes

vary

in

length

depending on

the device being referenced. In gene

Location Code format

The basic format of the location code is:

ŸFor non-SCSI devices/drives AB-CD-EF-GH

ŸFor SCSI devices/drives (not controllers/adapters) AB-CD-EF-G,H

“G” is the SCSI bus

(PUN)

of the

device

and

“H”

is the

Number

(LUN).

The

“AB” value identifies the bus type as follows:

the

range

on the device “discovery” order as

order.

The “D”

value

is

set

to 0.

The “EF” value, as generated by the firmware, is always 00.

The “GH” value (except for SCSI devices) is a subsystem dependent “index” value indicating subordinate devices of the parent identified by the “AB-CD-EF” value.
