Before You Start

To complete this procedure, you need a standard CAT 5, CAT 5e, or CAT 6 network cable for:

❑Each management port on each storage system SP that you will connect to the LAN.

❑Each Fibre Channel switch, if you are using them, and if you want to manage with the switch vendor s management software.

STEP 1. For each SP, connect one end of a LAN cable to the management port on the SP and the other end to the network from which you will manage the storage system(Figure 48 or Figure 49).

Be sure you do not connect the management LAN cable to the serial/service or UPS ports. If you connect the management ports directly to a network switch, you must use switch ports that support auto-negotiation or are configured for half-duplexoperation.
