Printing 3

Grain

Grain refers to the position of fibers in the paper. The fibers run the length (long grain) of the paper or the width (short grain). For the best printing results, load the paper in the direction of the grain. If you load the paper across the grain, the edges of the paper may wrinkle. Some paper manufacturers identify the grain on the paper’s package label.

When you use A-size or A4-size paper, the paper should be short-grained.

You can purchase short-grained A-size and A4-size paper from Tektronix.
