GETTING STARTED – BASIC CALL FEATURES

Making and Answering Calls

To Make an External Call

Lift the handset and select a free line in one of the following ways:

Press the line key 1 for line 1, line key 2 for line 2, and so on. (This is applicable only if the Programmable Keys are programmed as line Keys, which is the default setting).

Dial 9 to select a line from outgoing group 1.

Dial 760 - 769 to select a line from outgoing groups 2 to 11 respectively.

Dial the telephone number you require. Digits are sent to the line as they are dialed on CO Lines and T1 channels. If the switch is equipped with Primary Rate ISDN dial # after entering the last digit to send the digits immediately or wait for 3 seconds.

Note: If you do not lift the handset, then you can enter digits in pre-dial mode. Digits will not be sent for processing until you lift the handset, press the speakerphone key, or select “Dial” from the display. You can edit the number you have entered prior to sending digits to the line, by using the left-hand keypad “Edit Key”( ), located below the keypad.

Note: If you are entering an external number in pre-dial mode, enter 9 or 760 - 769 to have a line selected when you send the digits for processing.

To make an external call from a standard analog phone, go off hook, dial a line access code (9, 760 - 769) and when dial tone is returned, dial the external number. Digits are sent to the line as they are dialed on CO Lines and T1 channels. If the switch is equipped with Primary Rate ISDN, dial # after entering the last digit to send the digits immediately or wait for 3 seconds.

Note: On power up the all CO Lines are in Outgoing group 1, access code 9. .

Restricting Outgoing Calls

This feature lets you decide which lines each extension can access for outgoing calls. By default, all extensions have access to all lines.

To Restrict an Extension from Accessing a Particular CO line

From the programming extension, press the PROGRAM key.

• Press the Scroll Down key ( ) until “System Programming” is displayed.

Select “System Programming”.

Enter the System Programming Password and select “Lines”.

• Press the Scroll Down key ( ) until “Outgoing Restriction” is displayed.

Select “Outgoing Restriction”.

Select the line.

Select the extensions to be prevented from accessing that line. A “♦” is displayed alongside those

extensions that are restricted from accessing the line, and a “◊” is displayed alongside those extensions that have access to the line.

Press the speakerphone key to finish programming.

Note: To program Outgoing Restriction when a T1 or T1 PRI interface card is installed see page 110

To Program CO Lines to be used for Incoming Calls Only

From the programming extension, press the PROGRAM key.

• Press the Scroll Down key ( ) until “System Programming” is displayed.
