WARNING: Ensurethat the power cordsdo not block access to switch components or
drapewhere people can trip on them.
Toconnect ACpower to an EX8200 switch:
1. Attachthe electrostatic discharge(ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and
connectthe strap to the ESD point on the chassis.
2. Ensurethat the power supply is fully inserted and latchedsecurely in the chassis.
See“Installing an AC Power Supplyin an EX8200 Switch” on page 150.
3. Flipthe Enable switch, which is next to the appliance inlet on the powersupply
faceplate,to the Standbyposition.
4. Squeezethe two sides of the power cordretainer clip, and insert the L-shaped ends
ofthe clip into the holes in the bracket on each side of the ACappliance inlet on the
ACpower supply faceplate.See Figure 66 on page 174.

5. Locatethe power cord or cordsshipped with the switch; the cords have plugs
appropriatefor your geographical location.
6. Insertthe coupler end of the power cordinto the AC appliance inlet on the AC power
supplyfaceplate.
NOTE: Ifthe power cord trayis installed, you can thread the power cord throughthe
powercord tray.See Figure 67 on page 175.
7. Pushthe cord (closeto the coupler end) into the slot in the adjustment nut of the
powercord retainer. Rotatethe nut until it is tight against the base of the coupler
andthe slot in the nut is turned 90° from the top of the switch. See Figure 67on
page175.
8. Ifthe AC power source outlet hasa power switch, set it to the OFF (0) position.
9. Insertthe power cord plug into an ACpower source outlet.
10. Ifthe AC power source outlet hasa power switch, set it to the ON (|) position.
