Locatingthe Serial Number on an EX8200 Switch or Component

Ifyou are returning a switch or hardware component toJuniper Networks for repair or

replacement,you must locatethe serial number of the switch or component. You must

providethe serial number to the Juniper Networks TechnicalAssistance Center (JTAC)

whenyou contactthem to obtain Return Materials Authorization(RMA). See “Contacting

CustomerSupport to Obtain Return MaterialsAuthorization for EX Series Switches” on

page253.

Ifthe switch is operational and you can access the command-lineinterface (CLI), you

canlist serial numbers for the switch and for some components with a CLI command.If

youdo not have access to the CLI or if the serial number for the componentdoes not

appearin the command output, you can locatethe serial number ID label on the physical

switchor component.

NOTE: Ifyou want tofind the serial number on the physical switch component, you will

needto remove the component from the switch chassis,for which you must have the

requiredparts and tools available.See “Installing and Removing EX8208 Switch

HardwareComponents”on page 149 or Installing and RemovingEX8216 Switch Hardware

Components.
