CAUTION: Ifyou are installing morethan one switch in a rack or cabinet, install the first
switchat the bottom of the rack.
Toinstall the switch using a mechanicallift (see Figure 48 on page 142):
1. Ensurethat the rack or cabinet is placed in its permanent locationand is secured to
thebuilding. Ensure that the installation site allowsadequate clearance for both
airflowand maintenance. For details, see “ClearanceRequirements for Airflow and
HardwareMaintenance for an EX8208 Switch”on page 101.
2. Loadthe switch onto the lift, making sure it rests securelyon the lift platform.

3. Usingthe lift, position the switch in front of the rack or cabinet, centering it in front
ofthe adjustable mounting brackets and/orpower cord tray installed in the rack.
4. Liftthe chassis approximately 0.75in. (1.9 cm) above the surface of the adjustable
mountingbrackets/powercord tray. Position the chassis in the rackas close as
possibleto resting on the support that the mounting bracketsand/or power cord
trayprovide.
5. Ina four-post rack, carefully slide the switchonto the adjustable mounting brackets
untilthe front-mounting brackets (“ears”) attachedto the chassis contact the rack
