Data Limits Eight digits. The EAN-8 symbol encodes two flag digits, five data
digits, and the check digit; eight total digits including the check
digit. The check digit is calculated by the printer. If mor e or less
than seven digits are sent, the sequence is printed as text rath er
than as Barcode. Invalid characters are encoded as a solid black
character.
