4.6Specifying the Copy Density (“Auto/Photo” function)

Document type and copy density settings

“TEXT” setting:

The automatic density level and 5 manual density levels are available.

“AUTO” density level:

The density level is automatically adjusted according to the document being copied.

Manual density levels:

In order to prevent the image on the back of newspaper or magazine articles from appearing in the copy, press the key to select a level toward “LIGHT”. In order to copy pale colors in bright areas of an image, press the key to select a level toward “DARK”. Since selecting a level too much toward “DARK” may copy the media color or selecting a level too much toward “LIGHT” may produce a very faint copy, select the appropriate level depending on the document.

“PHOTO” setting:

Select this setting when copying documents with many areas with varying halftones, such as photos.
